About RF Buchan
Robert Frank Buchan was born in Denver in 1960, grew up on a small ranch on the western slope of Paonia, CO. As the youngest of five, he learned the value of hard work and persistence. It was the sixteen years he spent as a welder-fabricator-fitter that trained him in the art of perfection when there was no room for error. For the next twelve years he found himself in Santa Fe, NM honoring his people skills in sales. "Co workers used to say that I brought 'color' to the job", He recalls, hinting at his colorful personality and character. Little did he know then that the beautiful New Mexico skyscape and thriving Santa Fe art scene were having an inspiring effect on him.
Today, Robert brings his passion and commitment for his work into every piece of artwork he creates. Hi acrylics on canvas or 'expressions in color' as he calls them, begin with solid, custom streched canvases that he builds and stretches. "I have come across a lot of factory streched canvases that cannot support the paint load I use in my abstracts. Just as a fine work of art begins with a blank canvas, a quality handcrafted stretched canvas begins with quality materials. My paintings and clients deserve the very best I can give them."
Statement:
I Love color. I'm not afraid to use color- lots of it! I never really know what colors I'm going to use in a painting or what design I'm going to paint until I put down the first stroke. It is all what I feel at that moment. It just happens to come together naturally as I paint -FREE form! When I am done, the story or song unfolds in the painting. It's BREATHTAKING.
